In 1901 the Sprinkler Fitters Union joined the United Association of Journeymen Plumbers, Gas Fitters, Steamfitters and Steamfitters Helpers to become Sprinkler Fitters Local 281. In January of 1902 the President was T. J. Morris, Vice-President R.J. Hughes and Secretary was O.S. Anderson. The Financial-Secretary report of May 8, 1902 showed 73 Fitters and 43 Helpers upon the books of this local.
We have been with the United Association since 1901. We currently have 866 active journeymen, 120 apprentices, and 429 retired members. Some of the earliest members of the local have had relatives in the business to the present day -Cosson, Hagan, Lange, Quaid, Stebe, and Stocking.
